One Day at a Time

I wanted to take a moment to share with you about an 8:00 am patient we had a tour office the other day. She is 100 years old; she drove herself to the office. Reviewing her Medical History only taking small doses of a blood pressure medicine, she has great mobility and a warm spirit! After we had completed her exam and prophylaxis, I asked her what her (secret) was. She said One Day At A Time.

I smiled and could feel my heart grow, as ODAT is a spiritual slogan we apply in recovery, now I know it to be a spiritual truth. Each morning I write a gratitude list, and over the years, ODAT of course, my list continues to grow. ODAT has continued to be on my list each day. How easily I can get overwhelmed with the full life we get to enjoy each day the ‘to-do lists.

However, when I wake up and remember to connect in with GOD, and go about my day being kind, courteous, and helpful to all I stumble upon, I can feel more connected to the world and have moments of peace and serenity, love and joy. Enjoying our patients more noticing the smiles., the flowers and the sunshine. I’m grateful for the spiritual tool of ODAT, reminding myself to enjoy the day as it unfolds, after all, I am trading a day of my life for it.

“Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of LOVE.“

A quote by Mother Theresa.
